Hello, I know this will be confusing to you all, and I do not know how to explain myself, had a visit from my brother, who has recentley returned from the above, and has been watching video clips
on this part of Wales, I know you cannot research living people, and of the 1911census.my brother is curious to know if Doris and Lenard Parker, and Pat Powell, are living today, hoping you can put me on the right path, he has found details on John Powell born 1804 to an Ann, at Portrishow, we need to find decendents of him, down to the names I have mentioned, thankyou so much, really not expecting a reply, but who knows.Margaret.
-
do you have any y.o.b for Doris and Len ? Were they husband & wife? Where were they living in 1911?
Suz

Suzard, no I am sorry looked for a Len born 1910???????????, this is what is making this request difficult, deaths checked for Len only go up to 1971, also I forgot to mention a Patricia Powell, born 1920/1930/1937 ????????????? appreciate your patience very much.Margaret.
-
I think Doris and Len were married, from what my brother said.Margaret.
-
there is a possible marriage in crickhowell abergavenny district in 1936, found on familysearch
mike
edit if this is the right one then it must be assumed children are likely still living

Mike thankyou so much for your help.Margaret.

Thankyou Mar, this must be him.Margaret.

Hi Margaret, here is one link back into the Powell name.
Doris Angelina Strawford (wife of Leonard Parker ?) born June 3rd 1907, baptised Nov 18th 1908, in Goytre, Monmouth to parents Francis and Selina Jane, of Pear Tree Cottage. Father is an insurance agent.
Francis Strawford marries Selina Jane Powell in Nov 1904 in Abergavenny
Selina Jane was born in 1879 in Crickhowell to parents Angelina Powell and Jeremiah Powell. Jeremiah (on 1891 census) say he was born Brecon, Partishow in 1843

1851 census shows Jeremiah living with parents John and Ann at Ty Yn Yllwin, Partrishow

Mar, so now we are back to where we started, and have our link

-
Yes, 1851 census shows children younger than Jeremiah as Evan and Alfred :)
Plus older children
Mary Ann Powell 1828
Gwenllion 1830
Caroline 1832
Elizabeth 1834
Thomas 1836
William 1838
James 1840
-
Yes, hope to find more imfo on Evan 1845/Alfred 1845/7 tommorrow, thankyou so much Margaret.
-
It seems neither Evan or Alfred ever marry and stay on the family farm throughout census returns. There is a death that fits the age range for Alfred Powell in 1926 aged 78, for Crickhowell. There is also a death record for an Evan Powell in 1919 aged 74 (also Crickhowell).
Interesting article about the family and local church

Mar, thankyou so much for the newspaper report.Margaret.

Len Parker married Dorothy (known as Dolly) Powell and they lived at Tyn y Llwyn, her family home, with her Uncle Evan. Len was my mother's younger brother and the dates given above look about right.
They had one daughter, Patricia, who married a local farmer; her son took over Tyn y Llwyn and Len and Doll moced to a smaller house.
Doll pre-deceased Len but they are both now buried in the graveyard of Patrishow Church, within site of the farmouse within who's grounds it stands.

Is it too late to join in this conversation about the Parkers and Tyn y Llwyn? I am a direct descendent of the Powell family ( albeit from an illegitimate son but authenticated in formal records). I visit the house regularly but will say no more until I know whether you are still "out there" as it is 12 mths since you originally posted. Where are you?
