Title: Inmate Records
Post by: wishes40 on Wednesday 01 October 14 00:07 BST (UK)
Looking for information on Jonathan Bodger born around 1808.  Census records of 1881 indicate he was an inmate at Union House Lynn Rd Wisbech and I am hoping someone can advise me on where to look for 'why' was he there.
thanks

Does his 1886 death cert show he died in that WH?

Do you have him in 1871 - here's the entry

Carol's link says he was married whereas the 1881 says he was unmarried. Possibly incorrect, mistake should read W or M rather than U, or perhaps his wife had died between 1871 and 1881.

Perhaps he was ill so was admitted to the workhouse where he may receive medical treatment.

You might want to contact the Cambridgeshire Archives & Local Studies Library (link provided on workhouses site) to see if they hold any records of inmates.
