Post by: Aussie1947 on Monday 22 September 14 12:22 BST (UK)
Hi,

Can anyone assist with a possible MI for Joan or Joyan Grassick (nee Dewars) whom was possibly buried at the Aboyne Kirkyard after 27th July 1927.

Thanks

Gidday Gerry

My lot also came from Strathdon .. Aberdeenshire.  Also related directly to the Grassicks.

My great aunt Margaret Glennie married Alexander Grassick on 16.04.1858.

Maybe not your family?

Hi Alex,

Nice that you also have Strathdon connections as well.

My GF was born at Craigniach in Strathdon in 1872, my GGF in Glenbucket in 1839 and my GGGF in Strathdon in 1793.  I have direct Stuart/Stewart, Fraser, Michie, Sherdon connections.

I have no direct association with the Grassick name but a early family member did.

If you are looking for any Strathdon info I might be able to help.

Hi Gerry

Thank you for your reply.  I visited Strathdon and District in 2013.

Going back next August (2015).  While there is always something new I have traced my Glennie family back to 1625 that I can corroborate.  Do need to revisit some graveyards on my next visit and one or two localities but more importantly spend a little time in the place which I didn't have last time.

Gerry

A good while since I last heard from you.  However wanted to confirm that I will be back in Strathdon next August 2015 for a few days and will be staying at Aboyne.

Let me know if you want anything done or looked at?

Alex G :)
