Hi,
I am trying to find any information I can about my 3rd Gt Grandfather Bennett Tazzar who was a hokey pokey man in Glasgow from the 1860's to the 1880's. He was located around the Gallowgate and Saltmarket area where he also had lodging houses, I am mainly interested in trying to find out about his ice cream business. My 3rd Gt Grandfather and his wife Ann Thomson ended up opening an ice cream and sweet shop in this area.
Would anyone be able to tell me where I might be able to find any information about this.

Hi there Robtaz,
You may have already seen this website about Glasgow Ice cream sellers. http://www.scalan.co.uk/Italians.htm - Quite a long story - but might be helpful or interesting for you. I have done an initial search for Bennett Tazzar on SP., and it seems there are two deaths - didn't go any further. It is a very unusual name - doesn't sound very Italian.
Anyway - good luck with your search.

Hi again Robtaz,
Have just found your postings on Italiangenealogy... so I see you have done a fair bit of searching already. It certainly is a hard one, with such variations of spelling.
Can't help you any more - but can understand/translate most Italian if you need a bit of help with the language!!
Again - good luck
