I'd be grateful, if anyone going to the Christchurch Archives, would kindly look up the following probate, please.

Richard Smith, Woody Gully, Mt. Thomas. retired farmer.
Item ID R22318881.  Agency CAHX.  Accession CH171. Box Item 636/. Record No.CH950/1964

Thank you for the PM, Leandra. I have the names of Richard & Martha Emaline Smith's children - see my other post (today). I'm trying to verify, by looking at this probate, if this Richard Smith is "my ancestor". Hoping it will have his wife recorded as Martha Emaline.

Sorry, didn't see your other post. The probate may name his second wife Edith which he married in 1950.

Oh, Leandra, now I'm desperate for that probate!
Richard would have been 70 yr in 1950. I'll PM you, as I'm keen to know your source, & maybe Edith could, just possibly, still be living. Thanks for this extra information.
