Charles marquand was the only son of robert marquand who was my GGG grandfather. If you have any information about Robert, who was from St Peter Port, Gurnsey, i would love to know more. I understand that Robert was a confectioner.

Robert appears to have died between 1851-1861 wife Elizabeth listed as a widow living 9,Commercial Arcade St Peter Port occupation pastry cook same address in 1851 census ...Several tree's have Robert's wife as a Mary Ozone died 3/2/1842 but you would need to check carefully

In those days "in law" was used for a step relative as much as for a relative by marriage

Robert Marquand was born in Mere, Wiltshire or Dorset about 1810. He died in St Peter Port on 8 January 1860.
His son Charles came to Australia with his step brother Henry Adams. Charles married Elizabeth Reilly and had 11 children including my great grandfather Charles MacGregor Marquand. I think Charles and Mary Marquand are another family
