Hello
I have very little information on this family.
All I know is that Elizabeth Jane Harrison was born in Wexford, and the date I have is 16 Sept 1847.
Her father was Alexander Harrison and he also was born in Wexford.
Unfortunately this is all I know.
Any information was be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Kathy

hi would you no what part of wexford your harrisons are from only im tracing my Harrison family tree and my lot are from wexford town
-
Hi Kathy
Do you know who she married, when and where ?
Tara
-
"dukeslane"
I do not know what part of Wexford the family is from.
A family letter suggests an involvement in the "Scullabogue Barn Horror". So maybe Near Ross?
Tara
Elizabeth Jane Harrison (or sometimes Jane Elizabeth) marries Samuel Crute 1868 in Toronto.
The same family letter mentioned above states that Alexander Harrison marries the widow Duffin "somewhere in Wexford county".
Although on Jane's death certificate it states her mother was Mary Boxhall.
On Jane's marriage registration it states her mother as Elizabeth Harrison.
I know this is a needle in a haystack situation. But you never know.
Thank you both for your time,
Kathy

Hi There
Was there ever any mention of Alexander's occupation ?
Where have you gotten that the family were from Wexford ?
Tara
-
DUFFIN ~ BOXHALL ~ HARRISON
Duffin is the only one of these that features in any great way in Wexford.

Thank you again Tara,
I believe the initial Wexford reference was on Jane Elizabeths's wedding registration to Samuel Crute.
But I can't find it at the moment. >:(
The letter states:
"Alexander was married to the widow Duffin somewhere in Wexford Co supposed to have owned Bally??? castle and lived there had three little children Robert, Elizabeth Jane and Charles who died when about six years old."
-
Ballyteigue Castle possible ?

The letter helps makes sense of things.
So Dr Boxwell was elected Medical Superintendent of the County Wexford Infirmary in 1837.

Major difference to your posts though in that the letter says that ROBERT Harrison was married to a relative of Dr Boxwell NOT Alexander Harrison.
Anyway, this gives me something to work on and a better time frame.
I shall post anything that I find.

If you look at this message on ancestry there is a person whose list of names they are researching include HARRISON & BOXWELL in WEXFORD !

Well worth getting in touch with them !

HUM
Robert Harrison was born abt 1760.
Henry Boxwell wasn't born 'til 1810.
SO, the lady that Robert married was a bit removed from Henry (hence the 'relative' description on the letter).
There is possibly a 2 generation gap.
I'm wondering MIGHT this Elizabeth Boxell be the connection :-\

Elizabeth Boxwell would have been an aunt to Dr Boxwell !

Dr Henry Harvey Boxwell
HUM
His father Ambrose Boxwell was a Surgeon in Wexford.
Given the ages it's possible that THIS is the Doctor Boxwell whom is being referred to in the letter !

OOOOOHHHHH
Here is his marriage from 1768 !

Wow Tara, you are working so hard!
I will try and attach page 2

What a great letter to have.
As I say I think the Boxwells are your best route to follow in the hope that one of people researching them has come across your Harrisons.
Given that the letter states that Robert was 'secretive' could account for the lack of any records that I can see other than the death in Wexford.

Thank you again Tara for all your help and information!

Ambrose was baptised in Dublin - common, as those from the medical arena usually had a Dublin residence or business too !

I just want to apologize for the late response.
Thank you so much taramcdsmall for all your work. For some reason I did not get back to this question.(probably a illness in the family)
I just want to THANK you again for all your suggestions and I will look into them now.
Again, so sorry.
