Hello all
My 5x Grt Grandparents William Fletcher and Rosanna Brown had a number of kids and the first of which (Jane) seems to have been born in Kelton, Kirkcudbrightshire.
The problem is I cannot seem to find their marriage.
Any help in locating this would be much appreciated.

1841 they are under BLETCHER;

That is indeed the family. I now at least have a possible place of birth for William. Hoddom is where I shall concentrate my search.

It is quite possible that you won't be able to find a marraige record for William and Rosanna, for various reasons - records missing, non-Church of Scotland marriage, etc. - see

Scotlands People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk has a death record for Rosanna Fletcher in Kelton 1859. This would give details of her parents.

1851/1861 John Fletcher down as born c 1800/1801 Hoddom, is living in Kelton, Kirkcudbrightshire
He is a Nailer also.
Isaac c 1803/4 on Census stays in Hoddom and is a Nailer also.

I stumbled across this page, looking for info on Isaac Fletcher.
My ancestry also goes back to this family, and I would be a descendant of John (born 1799).
I visited Ecclefechan a few years ago, 2009 I think, and found John Fletcher's gravestone in the churchyard there. I have the full inscription at home and will post it tonight.
I also visited Castledouglas cemetery, which is huge in comparison, but couldn't find any obvious connections.
There is, apparently, another graveyard in Hoddom (should be Kelton I think?) which I didn't know about at the time. This would most likely be a better place to find some links.

Jane Harkness, Spouse to John Fletcher, Nailer in Ecclefechan.
She died 7th April 1808 aged 58 yrs.
Also Simeon Fletcher their son who died in 1822 aged 26 years.
And the said John Fletcher who died in 1830 aged 67 yrs.
Also Isaac, son of the above John Fletcher who died at Ecclefechan 14th September 1884 aged 80 yrs.

I've also been researching this family. A descendant of William Fletcher's posted a great old photo of William's brother Isaac Fletcher 1800=1880 on ancestry and they agreed to let me copy it to Old Families of Dumfries Facebook page. Isaac was married to Jean Graham. Isaac and William's brother John is my g g g g grandfather - he married Helen Pauling.
