My father and grand father were JAMES SLESSOR from OLD MACHAR,I am trying to trace back beyond 1880 and see if there is a family connection to Mary Mitchel Slessor whom my aunt said she was named after and was my grand fathers aunt .My grand father was the defacto spouse of MARY ANN BURR

Downloading the death cert for James snr from Scotland's People will give you his parents names and mothers maiden name.

Downloading the birth cert for James jnr will give you his mothers name and maiden name
