Title: Nicholson
Post by: Belfast beau on Monday 18 August 14 00:11 BST (UK)
Hi All. Another query I've been searching the wedding of Elizabeth Nicholson  and Samuel Johnston they were married in Belfast. The bride gave her address as the Retreat, Armagh. I believe the bride was a Quaker would this Retreat be part of the Quaker meeting house or similar. Belfast beau.

Quaker link yes, but it was an institution for people with mental health difficulties, there is an explanatory reference here:

Don't know if connected, but there is a modern residential home in the vicinity today with that name which specialises in the same area of care.

Hi,
Don't know about Quaker wedding practices but is it not strange that the couple were married in St. Matthews Church of Ireland, Shankill?

Regards
