Can anyone help?
William Clegg, baptised 16 February 1812 at Thronhill, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. He marries Sarah Westmorland of Rothwell Haigh, Rothwell, (baptised February 1815 at Rothwell, West Yorkshire) somewhere around 1837. Their first child, John, was born in 1838 but I can't find a marriage anywhere. She is always referred to as Sarah Clegg, formerly Westmorland on the birth certificates but no trace of a marriage in either Thornhill or Rothwell.
Does anyone know of a marriage? or are they just good liars!!

John's birth was registered in the December qtr 1837 so any marriage would be pre-Civil Registration

As far as I can see the marriage is not on
freebmd.org.uk
freereg.org.uk
familysearch.org
joinermarriageindex.co.uk
ancestry.co.uk
therefore I think its going to be a case of looking at parish records, including non conformists which would mean going to the west yorks archives or a LDS centre that has them
Failing that you could try one of the local family history societies that covers the area and see if they can help

Did William and Sarah have other children?
Sarah Ann; Martha; William; Sam; Hannah and Tom?
If so, they were living in Thornhill Lees in 1861 and 1871, but no John on either census.
