Strange and coincidental 1901 Census return
House Ship in Clononybeg,Shipping Shannon Hbr,Kings Co
Page 12 Household return form A
Ambrose Curry age 20 Skipper born Dublin
Michael Curry age 22 servant born Dublin
Michael Conroy age 22 born Kildare.
-
strange i've got Ambrose 1901 commons newcastle with mother.but only just stated looking for this family.
-
try and get your head around this one
Irish Genealogy shows a baptism in 1879 for Andrew Dwyer of Newcastle in Saggart Church, mother Rose Callery no father registered. This baptism is not yet transcribed so cant be sure his name is Andrew or Ambrose.
In 1905 Ambrose Dwyer married Delia Skelly (Delia or Bedelia another form of Bridget)
1908 prison reg shows Ambrose Dwyer next of kin Delia Dwyer of Hazlehatch.
1911 Census 4 Loughtown Lower,Newcastle
Ambrose Dwyer age 30
Bridget age 25 born Meath
Christopher 4
Ambrose Patrick 1 Month.
Could this explain why Ambrose Curry is not on 1911 Census and his birth before 1887.
-
I think Ambrose Curry was enumerated twice in 1901 his mother Rose filled out her Census return form on 4th April 1901 she is living in a house owned by the Grand Canal Company
On the 31st of March Ambrose is enumerated on Barge 277 owned by Grand Canal Company.
-
thanks for that dathai i will def look into it tonight

Rosanna Curry married Henry Caswell in Celbridge April June 1910 she died at 4 Baggot Court on 26 Nov 1946
Henry Caswell in 1911 was at 96 Pembroke Cottages,Dublin,age 29,seed porter,born 1882 Dublin,
married under one year 1 child born and alive.
His parents were Samuel Caswell and Elizabeth possibly Sheridan.
a marriage in Dublin South 1874 for this couple vol 2 page 709.

marriage 1919 Celbridge Peter Curry,
Apr June vol 2 page 429
Matches with either Rosanna Morrissey or Mary Perry
Most likely Mary Perry of 11 the Commons in 1901 age 13 and 1 the Commons age 26 next door neighbours.
Elizabeth Curry married in Oct Dec 1911 Celbridge vol 2 page 469 3 matches
James Connolly
Patrick Connally
William Mansfield.
Possible Conroy connection a Michael Conroy was born in Rathcoole area 19 Aug 1874 to John Conroy and Mary Callery
Cant find anything positive on this family, a few baptisms on Irish Genealogy including one for a Michael Conroy in 1874 no date given in Saggart to John Conroy and Mary Carr or Corr without being able to see the actual register its hard to know if the mothers name is mistranscribed.

Hi I am also a decendant of Michael Curry. His mother Rose Callery/Curry/Feeney is my GG Grandmother from Hazelhatch. Elizabeth Caswell was my grandmother. I also questioned Ambrose age in the census so thank you for clearing it up. Was wondering are they buried in Hazelhatch or would anyone know
