Hi Chris,
I have a feeling your Joseph may be related to my family line.
My grandmother Margaret Morrison's mother ( married James Veighey) was a Kellett.
I will do some more digging.
Thanks
Margaret :)

Hello,
My first time on RootsChat. I am trying to help a dear friend connect with family in Ireland, hopefully when we visit this September. She comes from the line of John Francis Morrison, son of James and Matilda Kellett. He emigrated to America in 1909, with another brother, William George, who followed in 1911. I have been able to locate the grandchildren of another brother, James Robert, but have not contacted them directly, but through a church in Glenageary.
I see MEW53 may be related, and hope she will respond to this post, along with any others who are from this line, or from Margaret Morrison's, who married James Veighey in 1919. From family notes, I believe their children are William, George, and Ida.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Rita

Hello Rita,
Welcome to RootsChat :)
You said that you see MEW53 maybe related so I am guessing that you have read one of her topics somewhere discussing her family connections - at the moment I am struggling to find the correct topic to connect your reply ??? When you reply to a topic it will send an email notification to the person to let them know of your reply but a "New topic" does not, I will keep trying..do you know who is the family member that may connect you ?
Regards
Sarah

Oh, you're all so kind! Thank you, Sarah, Kiltaglassen, and aghadowey!
From what I can gather Margaret Morrison and her husband James Veighey had William, George Robert, and Ida. It looks like MEW53 (Margaret) is George Robert's daughter? She has a picture of her parents posted with her profile.
My friend, Mary, is the granddaughter of one of Margaret Morrison Veighey's brothers, John Francis Morrison, who came to America in 1909.
I'm not sure if MEW53 (Margaret) lives in Ireland or England. I was in touch with another connection through Ancestry today, and she seems to believe the Veigheys all went to England.
On a different note, I came across a Matilda Maud Morrison (born around 1880 in Carrigallen, Leitrim), daughter of Edward and Jane Anne Dale Morrison. She married Samuel Kyle, and they had a daughter, Charlotte. It appears as though they lived in New York City, but traveled quite a bit. Perhaps she is somehow linked to this same family, being named Matilda?
One of my goals here is to try to find relatives that Mary could possibly meet when we travel in September to Ireland.
Thank you again for all of your help! What a nice community this is!
Stay safe and be well. Best wishes, Rita

Welcome Rita,
My grandparents on my Dad’s side were Margaret Morrison and James Veighey, Margaret’s mother was Matilda Kellett. They had 3 children: William, George and Ida, George was my father.
My father told me many years ago that he had 2 uncles that emigrated before he was born to the USA. I am in contact with a second cousin who’s father was the son of James Robert.
I’m a bit rusty on some of the information these days, but will check my family history book.

Hi Rita,
You don't give a date for John Francis' birth but there's this one-

KG,
You’ve been very busy on the Kellett family front and I appreciate your information, lots of it was unknown to me.
I have sent a personal message to RCDWE, after looking in my book it looks like the lady she is trying to help is probably a second cousin of mine.
Thanks again.
:)

You're very welcome, MEW53 ;D

I have an interest in a J Kellett who is recorded as the informant for James Ross death Cliffin 11th August 1920.
J Kellett is a watchmaker and James Ross brother in law. He carried the body to be buried.
Haven't come across that before so wondered if the relationship was special. Cannot find a marriage as yet for James Ross and his wife Elizabeth/Lizzie.
Possible birth might be Elizabeth Kellett to Jane Kellett 1870 Bailieborough Workhouse.

Sorry about the misreading. No wonder it didn't make sense. Not a good idea doing research late at night. Have found Joseph Kellett in Bailieborough Town in 1901 with his mother Jane then looks to have moved to Virginia by 1911 census.

Thank you for the marriage information for Joseph.
Do you think his mother Jane's death is the one recorded at Virginia Oldcastle in 1906 on 21st January?.
Also single mothers who gave birth to their baby in the workhouse would they usually keep the child?

Yep, that's a better fit. Informant was her grandson James Kellett and age 93 corresponds with her age (87) in 1901 census. James R (aged 13) also on 1901 census. Reply #28
