Title: Searching for pre ww2 addresses
Post by: LordOfKent on Wednesday 13 August 14 11:32 BST (UK)
Hi folks

I haven't been on RC for quite a while and am a bit rusty. I need to search for addresses of various people in the UK from before WW2. Because the census is no help what is the best way to go about this? Would electoral registers for that time be online or would it be a case of contacting various libraries around the country?

If possible could these records be accessed from France as I night have to be there for a while?

Thanks for any help this has been a recent developement.

John

Hi,

There are some ER records on Ancestry but coverage is patchy:

  London 1832-1965, Midlands 1832-1955, W. Yorkshire 1840-1962,  Surrey 1832- 1945,  Dorset 1839 - 1922
