][/color]I have been trying to find the birth record of Adela (Edela or Adelia) Brooks born 1835 in Warwickshire. I know little else about her, can anyone suggest the simpliest way I may find this being before the general registration?
-
This is the only one I found but there are over 1,000 Brooks listed in Warwick on the IGI so she might be among those - I just had a cursory look.
Nothing came up in the search with Warwick with any of the variations you supplied.
1. Adela BROOKS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 24 MAR 1839 Gislingham,Bts For, , Suffolk, England
You will need to access Parish records - do you know who her parents were? that would be a help or who she married would give you a parents name and an address to go on
Cheers Cougar

;DI think this is the one - Gislington was in the information I had, but the birthdate was earlier and the county different. If it is the correct one she married a George Wrigley in Rochdale. Will have to get the marriage cert.
Thankyou very much for your help

James Brooks=Mary Walton sorry marriage isnt there.
James Walton Brooks 23 may 1830 Gislingham
George Walton Brooks 7 aug 1831 Gislingham
Adela Walker Brooks 24 mar 1839 Gislingham
Anna Mary Brooks 26 dec 1847 Gislingham
note that Adelas baptism does list mother as Mary Walker where the others she is Mary Walton ......common transcription error
certainly explains the letter I couldnt quite fathom on the census!
Enjoy... :-*...Kris

Hi Kris - thanks for that - tis birth and ? death of Mary Ann in 1853 that I am looking for, also his parents. Seems he was born in Coventry in 1816 and then disappeared. His father was William who is listed on his marriage cert. as labourer. Very tempted to think it is William who married Mary Mowe but until I find David's date of birth can't be sure. No idea really how I would find it as it is pre 1837.
Also can't find birth of Mary,. 1/10/1855 could be Coventry?? still there after death of Mary Ann? but then the rest are around Shoreditch/Southwark/Cripplegate areas.
Don't suppose you are in Coventry - prob Aussie like the rest of us.
Thanks again for that,
Cheers from Oz, Cougar
