Have received this message today from Ancestrry.

We’re making updates that may impact your Family Tree Maker experience. Starting in October 2014, Ancestry Web Search within Family Tree Maker software will have reduced functionality
or may not be supported by Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista or
Internet Explorer 8 or 9.
Moving forward, Microsoft Windows 7 or 8 will be required for Ancestry Web Search functionality
to work properly.
Looks like trouble ahead for users of Win XP/Vista using IE 8 or 9.
We'll wait for the flak to start

I'm another with xp

I suppose as Microsoft has given up on XP, Ancestry don't see any need to have programs that support XP/Vista.
-
Vista is still supported by Microsoft for now. However, you could try installing Google Chrome or Firefox because I gather the newest versions will install on XP. At least that would enable access to ancestry's website through an internet browser.

Yes, I've got vista and can't upgrade from IE9 but I've installed google chrome and that seems OK - so long as I remember to use it not IE !!!
