This is my first post so please excuse any mistakes! I am trying to research the hewson family of tetney lincs from the late 1800s. My great grandma was Charlotte hewson and her father and his family owned land in that area. Unfortunately there are no longer many hewsons left but the family history has always intrigued me and I would love to find out more. Can anyone help?

can you give a few more details names and dates ( non living) and I am sure you will get people helping. what info do you want - going backwards or forwards? what info do you have ?
I can see 2 charlottes in tetney

Would this be a start - Charlotte Hewson 1881 census
living Great Carlton, Lincs
William Hewson 24 Ag Lab/Waggoner b. Tetney
Mary Hewson 23 b. Riplingham
Edmund Hewson 4 B. Tetney
Charlotte Hewson 2 B. Tetney
Emma Hewson B. Great Carlton
of course Charlotte Hewson may be your great grandma's married name in which case this would not be correct - but we need to start somewhere.

Hi pheno
That sounds right my great grandma was Charlotte Marie hewson when she married she became walker. I am trying to trace the history of her parents and how they came to lincolnshire but I haven't got a clue where to start. I have been to the cemetery in tetney but the graveyard is full of reasons and they all seem to have been given the same names so I'm struggling.

Not reasons spell check changed it I meant reasons

It changed it again it should say hewsons

you might need to purchase some certificates as Vron says above there are quite a few Hewson families in Tetney and William, Mary and Charlotte are not uncommon names.
If you look at subsequent 1891 & 1901 census info you will get a feel for where William Hewson was born and when and then you can trace him back in earlier census info to when he was living with his parents so you will be able to obtain their names.
Do make sure you are tracing the right set of parents back though.
