Hi All.
Can anyone make a search of the 1901 or 1911 census. I'm looking for Joseph Nicholson who married in Co. Armagh Ireland in 1918, the address at time of marriage was 71 Hope Street, Motherwell, Glasgow. Father's name also Joseph I'm looking for any family details the census reveals or any suggestions that might help me trace the family. Hopefully, Belfast beau.

The Scottish 1911 is only available on a pay per view basis on Scotlands People
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
Was Joseph born in Scotland or Ireland?
How old was he when he married and what was his occupation?
Any parents names on the marriage cert?
Have you checked the Irish 1901/1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Hi Carolew.
Joseph was born in Scotland and married in Ireland in Drumcree C.O.I., Age at marriage over 21 a labourer and his home address 71 Hope street, Motherwell, Glasgow. Father's name also Joseph don't have a birth date as such but his death cert states his age at death as 57 and Death date 17Th Feb 1938. makes his birth date about 1880/1881? Any help would be greatly appreciated.Belfast beau

No match on the Scottish 1891 census but there are a few matches on the English 1891 - birthyear 1880-1882 and father Joseph
The Scottish 1901 has a Joseph Nicholson b 1881 England living at 104 Rose St Edinburgh occ unemployed billiard marker
You will need to buy credits and use Scotlands People to check the 1911 Scottish census
Is any occupation shown for his father on the marriage cert?

Hi Carolew. Many thanks for your efforts the father is recorded as a labourer on the certificate. I have membership to Scotland's People but I'm not brilliant on the computer and especially with Scotland's people I always seem to screw up. I'll have another go with the info you sent. Again many thanks.Belfast Beau.

Any relation of the Joseph Nicholson, labourer, formerly resident in Airbles Street, who assaulted Bailie Brassington in June 1903 and was finally caught and sentenced to 60 days imprisonment for it in February 1904?

Hi GR2. Everything I know about Joseph is listed in these posts, if you can muddy the water further feel free. The more info I have the more chances I have of identifying Joseph. Two days ago I believed he was born in Belfast, then I got a copy of his marriage certificate. That took me to Scotland and then England. Is your report of an assault take place in England or Scotland? Welcome to the puzzle Belfast beau.
