Hi there
I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to check the newspapers for an entry regarding my ggg grandfather's death.
His death certificate reads:
Died: September 7th 1896 at 18 Poplar Street and Fir Street, Ancoats
Name: William Lomas
Age: 56 Years
Occupation: A Knocker up
Cause of Death: He died suddenly of natural causes
Informant: Certificate received from Sidney Smelt, Coroner for Manchester. Inquest held 16th September 1896
Any information found would be greatly appreciated
Kind regards
Jill

Jill -- just so that you know your query isn't being ignored -- I have checked the Manchester Times on the Libraries site and the Manchester Courier on Find My Past, but nothing comes up for a William Lomas in 1896.
Maybe there are more local publications which other Rootschatters might know about.
Sorry not to be able to help.

If he just died of natural causes the papers would probably be not interested in reporting it.
