probate
Edwin Charles spice of 19 malland road snodland kent died 2nd july 1899
administration London 28th july to charlotte Elizabeth spice his widow in the amount of £348-16s-0d

it looks like Charlotte had moved out of the family home by 1881 - she would have been 17 and would be working - if we have the right parents / baptism - Sarah the mothers maiden name was Ely ..
so - Alfred Double married Sarah Ely 1864 mar qtr at Samford ,Suffolk 4a 731
so it looks like Charlotte Elizabeth Double was the first born ....
the family in 1881 census

In case you're not familiar with it, check out www.fultonhistory.com. It has many newspapers from New York and a few other states and there appear to be mentions of Claude L. Spice in newspapers from Poughkeepsie and other towns.
