As far as I know, service records of men who died in service were not kept.
To get any further back with certainty you will have to get the marriage certificate indicated by judi2632 to find William & Anna's father's names & occupations. Yorkshire bmd [a free site http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/] has
1875
SurnameForename(s)SurnameForename(s)Church / Register OfficeRegisters At Reference
HART William BURTON Anna Christ Church Hull HCC/1/380
Have you looked for his birth on another free site?
www.freebmd.org
I'm intrigued as to why you thought Richard was Dick on the 1901 census if you hadn't already seen it?
ADDED: I am struggling to find a birth 1893 +- 2 years - have looked on freebmd, yorkshire bmd & ancestry with no success.
