I see from Facebook advert that you can get. 50!percent off an annual sub to FindMyPast now.How about rewarding their existing subscribers by offering them fifty percent if they extend their sub this year.Hiw frustrating for those who have just taken one out but I suppose they want to encourage new members after a very poor press when they introduced their new web site.
I think its O K now after finding my way round the site with help from Lost Cousins newsletter and magazine articles.But I'm still cross to have missed out on the offer.

The offer is still available....runs out today..... and exisiting subscribers can have it added to their subscription. That's what I've done.

Follow that link I gave and click on "Claim 50%discount" it then took me to my account and I followed the instructions to renew. I've just had an email saying it was successful.

Thanks for letting me know that existing subscribers could claim too! I was tamping when I saw the facebook ad, not least because I had literally just (24 hours previously) resubbed for a year. I am now fully paid up until July 2016. Just need to remember to untick the renew automatically box, otherwise in 2015 it might well renew again.

Thanks so much for this. I just spotted the link while browsing and have been able to renew my sub , which was due to expire in a couple of days, for £49.75 - result !!!!

I must admit that I hadn't realised current subs could be extended.
Fortunately. thanks to NJ, Groom et al, I now have till April 2016 paid for, AND I find my expired credits applied.
Now, if only Ancestry could get their act together and offer discounts to current members.
That could go for Virgin, Sky etc, just about anyone who has special offers for new customers and zilch for existing.

Oops, no, something's gone wrong with mine. I clicked on the link and paid £49.75 and had an email to confirm an extension to my membership for one year. However, on my homepage it still says I have membership to December 2014 but that I also have 95 credits!
Don't want 95 credits, want a years sub for £49.75.
Did it work ok for everyone else?
I was going to ring them......but the phone number is hiding ???

On the other hand.......panic not HL, panic not........it may be the strange way of showing things. On my subscription page it all looks in order and the membership date will probably change when the current sub expires.
Like msr it looks as though the 95 credits applied were my expired credits.

If you check the very top of your homepage, you'll find it says Britain member until December 2015. ;) The left hand side only shows the current subscription, the new one will show on your subscription page on your account as starting when the current one expires.
It caught me out initially when I renewed with the offer last week. ;D

Just checked mine which I renewed at half price today and the home page shows my current sub expiring in October 2014. However on the account page both payments are shown with the 2014-2015 sub shown as "inactive".
So all looks fine :)

It's interesting that when they first posted the offer, FindMyPast insisted it was for new and expired subscriptions only. Yet, I gather not long after this when existing subscribers were managing to make use of the offer, they were suggesting it to other existing subscribers who were trying to get free extensions (not me because I've not actually asked for one, but saw it mentioned either on RC or FB) so they obviously decided it was an opportunity to retain some of their existing subscribers too. ;D

Nah, it caught me out too and I suspect a few others. I was expecting them to just extend the subscription expiry date rather than add an inactive new subscription to the account page. ;D

I'm happy, now paid up to March 2016!!
I have also got used to the new site, not that I had any major problems with it. It was just a case of finding my way round.

With all the problems back in April, I unchecked the box saying Autorenew until I made my mind up whether to continue with FindMyPast. Now I have decided to renew as most of the problems have been sorted and have just taken advantage of the 50% offer.
When I went back into the manage my account page, the Autorenew box had been checked again.

Unfortunately I was foolish enough to take out a World subscription so it wont allow me to use the 50% offer, even though when I do renew it will be Britain only - and to add insult the message says "You currently have a 12 Month World Subscription. If you'd like to renew, wait until 05 June 2014 when your 10% loyalty discount will be applied"

Yes, my World sub means I don't get the offer either. The FB link fills in a promotional code at the bottom, which FindMyPast promptly says is NOT VALID.

Yes, I followed the link but without me doing anything it automatically added the code, said something like 'promo code successfully applied' but in order to pay I had to log into my account - at which point computer said no!

Id already unchecked the auto renew after the fiasco of the "improvements", but thanks for the suggestion. I've emailed them, so lets see what they say......
