I think this is very touching Carol, how you are honouring in remembrance your Grandfather's cousin Thomas Capes with his history and images.

R.I.P. Thomas - Remembered today with honour.

Hello Carol from East Yorkshire!
I found your posts by accident when looking for information about my great grandfather, Thomas Capes. I also saw your post with what looked like a photo of his parents. We were in Hull in 2002 and never knew there was a memorial to him, so never saw it! I am so touched that you remembered him and paid tribute to him. I’ve only seen one picture of him and one of Jessie. My mom is Anne’s daughter. She was an only child like Anne. I’m anxious to get in touch with you  to see what other information you have. We know little about the Capes side other than Thomas was killed in the war. Jessie, Anne, my grandfather and my mom all immigrated to the U.S. after WW2, when my mom was little. My email is tac8322@gmail. com. I hope to hear from you!

Hello Carol!

Thank you for responding! The link you sent just led back to the post.

I think that makes us 2nd or 3rd cousins. Do you have any pictures of the Capes :) family? I would love to see them! My mom said (if I remembered right) that’s where the red hair came from. I’ve been doing some genealogy and have traced some back on the Capes side but not as far back as I’d like. Do you know if they were always from Yorkshire? Did they come from another country back in the lineage?

Yes, Sorry about that, yes my Grandfather Edward Capes had Red hair. My Daughter and Grandson have red hair and my Brother and I have dark auburn hair.
Will did out a photo if I can find one.

Hi Carol!

How wonderful to know! My mom was a red head too. My brother was a tow head that got darker as he got older and mine ended up dark brown. I’m very excited and grateful for any and all pictures! I’m wondering if there’s some Scandinavian in there or Irish because of the red hair. Thank you for replying!

Sincerely,
Tara
