Edith May Whiting b1909 Croydon was left at an institution in Croydon. Believed to have suffered from polio.
She was abandoned in c1912. Has anyone access to the admissions records for Queens as it appears to be the most likely place.
All help appreciated

Hi,
Could this be "Queens"?

Yes that's it, not sure if there was any other places she may have been abandoned but this one seems the most likely

Try Croydon Local Studies (http://www.croydononline.org/history/genealogy/) where it says they have Poor Law and Workhouse records. The minutes of the Poor Law Union include full lists of staff, but I don't recollect many names of inmates or seeing admission registers.
If you intend to visit, contact them beforehand as since they merged with the museum last year, very little of the stuff that used to be on open shelves is now so readily accessible.
