Title: Family of James and Barbara Mackay (nee Duchart)
Post by: buntymac on Sunday 20 July 14 13:45 BST (UK)
Hello Canada
Can anyone help with any information about James(1889) and Barbara Mackay(1898) they emigrated from Caithness in Scotland, sailing on the Saturnia on 21st April 1920 from Glasgow bound for Quebec. They  settled in Ontario.   Last known address was 60 Igslington N, Islington ,Ontario. This probably would be 1960's. Both James and Barbara will be deceased now. I would love to find out deaths and if they had family.
thank you  :)

Thank you so much for this info. I could not find out if they had any family. I presume they both died in Canada.

There is a Mrs Barbara Mackay there in the 1974 Canada Votors Lists

I was a little suspicious of that record  -  Also living at that address 22 Weybridge Court are a Male Mackay - Insurance Agent and a male student Mackay  ???

In 1972 just the male Mackay (insurance agent - no student listed - obviously not of age.)

It looks as if the son married - Berys Evelyn Brown
Born July 5, 1923 in  Quebec, Quebec, Canada  and died May 24, 2002 in  Toronto, Ontario, Canada. So perhaps the owner of that tree is the daughter of that marriage.  ???

All the names seem to match RK - the "Sinclair" bit was a surprise - even on Canada Ocean Arrivals it was saying Barbara Duchart Mackay - but there was a tree which is now unavailable Barbara Sinclair Duchart.
Can you work your magic with an obit for husband James  :P

 :'( :'( :'( I can't find James Sr either..

But, I did find son David's obituary.  Toronto Star June 29, 2006 Page C14
David John Mackay, died June 27, 2006.  Formerly of Caledon.  Survived by wife A, son S (wife C), and daughter W (husband B Sibley).  2 grandsons.  Survived by brothers Alexander and Dr. James (wife A) Mackay.  He worked at Bell Canada for 37 years.  Funeral is in London, Ontario.  It doesn't say specifically that he died there, but I would think so.  If people wish to donate in David's memory, a London charity is mentioned.

OOps -- just reread the 1951 marriage announcement and have now modified my earlier post to say son of the "LATE" James Mackay.  That should help find him!!  James Sr. died before 1951. ::)

Changed my glasses so I can see better :) :) and I found James

James Mackay, died suddenly at his home 20 Burlington Road, Mimico on Aug 30 1947.  Beloved husband of Barbara Duchart, father of Alexander, James and David.  Buried at Park Lawn Cemetery.
