Title: Finding people in Service at Cowick Hall Yorkshire
Post by: whiteroselass on Wednesday 16 July 14 20:27 BST (UK)
Is there anywhere I can confirm a relative was a servant at Cowick Hall Yorkshire c1800 to 1804.
Her name was Mary Elizabeth Cotton, known as Elizabeth, born 1791 in Howden Dyke and died in 1870.  She married Robert Lidster in 1804.

I'm hitting a brick wall on this one so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Cowick Hall was owned by the Dawnay family, headed by Viscount Downe.  You might get lucky and find something in the Dawnay papers in the National Archive - they are held in the North Yorkshire County Record Office in Northallerton.

Hope this helps
