I have been researching my tree for some time. Through birth, marriage and death records I have been able to get to Henry Carr b 1837 Yorkshire m Annie Clark 1860. One child is David Sharp Carr b: 1870 Sculcoates. This is the first time the Sharp surname appears. The birth record of Henry shows his father as George Sharp Carr b: 1808 m: 1833 to Martha Roberts George was son of George Sharp Carr b: 1770 Middlesex m: 1795 to Mary Burnham. The marriage record shows his father to be Matthew Carr. Trying to match the surname Sharp with my family I found a Marriage of Matthew Carr to Mary Sharp 1761 in Hexham. Up to this point I feel sure of my research. The Matthew I found in Hexham b: 1739 was the son of George Carr b: 1705. This is the person I am trying to verify. What I found to this point is George was the son of George Carr b: 1685. He married 1730 to Margaret Bell. George Carr b: 1685 m: 1703 Jane Forster was the son of John Carr b: 1657 m: 1674 to Margaret Ridley. John Carr b: 1657 was the son of Richard Carr b: 1631 M; 1656 to Elizabeth Gibson.
If anyone has more information it would help
Thanks

Hi, I am having a similar problem to you having realised that my Carr family from Dotland is a bit of a mess, which I am in the processing of not only sorting out, but also correcting the wrong information provided by enthusiastic amateurs!!
If you would like to check my ancestry tree out, I do know that I do have Sharp in there with any relevant information that I could find to validate.
I am a real neard when it comes to the correct information and putting meat on the bones to bring out the personalities of our distant ancestors and cousins, constantly re-visiting and correcting as I go along.
This is a link to Jane Sharp to hopefully give you a starting point.
