Title: Kavanagh's Wexford pre 1850s
Post by: gc1 on Sunday 13 July 14 17:01 BST (UK)
Hi All :)

Been a while but having just had my cousin over from Ireland for a visit has stirred me into dusting off the family tree “To Do” list:

Details I have: My Gfather Laurence (1894), his father, my GGfather, Edward (1853) (Also a brother Mathew 1850) then their father, my GGGfather, John Kavanagh (c1830) and that’s where it stops  :(

I have no details about John (no DoB, no Death no nothing) other than he is listed on Edwards marriage cert to Mary Mahon in 1885 as a labourer.

Also I have no details regarding his wife, my GGGmother, or his parents my GGGG parents ???

The family are from Our Lady's Island Co Wexford.

Many thanks in advance for all your help :D

Gerry

Hi, I've nothing to add on those specific people, but Our Lady's Island has very old and detailed parish records (in the possession of the parish priest Father Nolan), so if you can get a look at those it should help enormously. Also bear in mind that the parishes of Our Lady's Island and Tacumshane started off as separate parishes and then merged but then unmerged so some records for Lady's Island are actually listed under Tacumshane.

Thank You
I did not know about the two separate parishes merging then unmerged so you have now given me a new lead to follow.

Well that's my weekend sorted :)
