hi,
Could anyone tell me where it would be possible to locate the
death, due to a road accident, of a British citizen in Portugal in 1988.
There no record in
the British bdm, would it have been registered in Portugal if so can anyone
tell me where and would it be transcribed in English. Possibly also any
Portuguese archive news paper reports of that time. The accident happened I
believe around Albufeira
thanks

Hi cannycanny
Welcome to Rootschat ;D
The death would have been registered according to the customs and legal requirements in Portugal.
There is no legal obligation for a death to be registered with the British Consul.
If you haven't already, contact the British Consul to see if they can offer any suggestions, but they will most probably recommend that you employ a genealogical researcher to undertake this for you.

Hi,
Possibly in the GRO Death Abroad Indices, available on Findmypast for credits, as its reasonably recent perhaps you would nt want to mention the name but if you make 3 posts you can send and receive pms.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies, had a look on the GRO Death Abroad Indices on Findmypast thers's nothing there. I can't believe there is so very little on line in portugal.

Hi, since it is a recent death, due to the privacy policy, you must adress yourself to the Portuguese Central Services.
Best regards
