Hi,
I will be attending the Cork Register's Office in early August, doing family tree research. If anyone wishes me to look up an entry for them, please forward them....giving Parish/area, names of parents etc. and rough dates/years.

Hi Mary
I shall be visiting Cork in mid August (from New Zealand). If time allows I maybe able to visit the Registry Office. I would appreciate advice as to location and opening times for this office.
Regards Pat(rick).

Hi Pat,
In recent days I found a link to all the Irish Civil Records online (free). A huge resource. This development is only recent.
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ This site has parish records as well as Civil Records.

Many thanks Mary for the link. I shall now be able to do more research regarding the possible resting places of my grandparents' relatives. As a result I may know which Churches and burial places to visit. The more research I do before my visit frees up time to visit those locations in Newmarket, Meelin and Kiskeam.

Hi Pat,
Cork consists roughly of 2 dioceses....1) Cork and Ross 2) Cloyne. The parishes of Newmarket and Meelin are in the diocese of Cloyne. The link for that is http://www.rootsireland.ie/ . Unfortunately, there is a fee for that sight. The previous link was for the parish records of Cork and Ross.
Hopes this helps

I presume when your visiting the Cork Office you have an appointment to view the records??? The records aren't open to the public, there is as far as I'm aware about a years waiting time to get an appointment...
the new records online are invaluable to research now though!

Only came across the online records the other day. A huge resource. Using them to refine my search in the Registers Office.
Yes, I do have an appointment. 13 months later.....long wait, but will be so worth it.

They are certainly answering some questions and helping me to refine my search in other areas.

Thanks Mary and Louise for detailing the need to have received an appointment for a visit to the
Office, so I shall not spend time calling at the Office.
Seven years ago I purchased information from the Mallow Heritage Centre regarding my grand father's family. The information detailed the Baptism Records for his nine elder siblings and the
Baptism records for two of his nephews and niece. In my case that information justified the costs, as it gave me a greater understanding of my grand father's family.
Thanks again for all you combined help.

Mary thanks for the links to Irish Genealogy sites. Useful to know parish records are now available.
