Title: James Waller
Post by: parkerwitton on Tuesday 08 July 14 14:09 BST (UK)
Trying to find a death for James Waller born c1870. James married Letitia Price  7/10/1892. Letitia died in 1935 in Cardiff. I know James was alive c1926 but cannot find a death. Any help would be grateful.

James T Waller registered death Cardiff Jun qtr 1954 aged 95. 8b 200
I know this is 10 years too old but could be an error in registers or from person giving info so may be worth a look.

Just a note to add.
There are 3 marriages for James Waller in dec qtr 1892.
One of these is a James Thomas Waller on same page as a Letty Price (source freebmd). So death maybe worth a second look.

Cardiff bereavement services should be able to tell you where they are buried and when...  As you know Letitia died in 1935 you could ask for her details (you give the name, date of death, and age - approx if you're not sure - and they tell you which cemetery, plot number) and then ask if they can give you the details of anyone buried with her. Presumably this would include her husband.

Aren't they buried together? Most of the plots have 3 or 4 burials (I've got one in Cathays with 5 including 2 previously unknown children).

The headstone I found only had one name on it but I have sent an email off to Thornhill.

Gosh, you're lucky to find a headstone, even though it didn't give you any additional info. I have more than 20 family plots in Cathays and only 1 headstone.  :(

Hope they can help. They have provided me with a lot of info over the last 2 years  :)

Hello Deidre thanks for your help Thornhill have been in touch and have informed me that James T Waller was cremated.
His cremated remains have been scattered in the Kerria Garden of Remembrance at Thornhill Crematorium.  Mr Waller died on 5/5/1954 aged 95 years.

Great news! Have you established that this is him, as 10 years seems quite a bit out, and he's not buried / cremated with his wife....

Do you know where he was born to follow him through the censuses?
