Title: How do I get the Service Record for 12th Regiment of Foot soldier
Post by: FishMan on Saturday 05 July 14 14:31 BST (UK)
Can anyone let me know how to get hold of the service record of Private, later Corporal George Hayman No.3309 1st Battalion, 12th Regiment of Foot? I believe he enlisted about 1853 in Westminster. Some debate among family about him, hopefully his service record might clarify some things?

Thanks Andrew

You need to search Findmypast for his service record, and Ancestry for the medal rolls for South Africa (1854) and New Zealand (1860s).

I can see him on the New Zealand medal roll for 1 Battalion, 12th Foot. "Geo Hayman" - served there from 1863-1866.

Hi Andrew,

microfilm copies of the 1st Battallion, 12th Regiment's Payroll and Musters (years 1854-1867) are held in the  State Library, NSW, Australia...and of course in England at the National archives. Access to the microfilm in Sydney is open to the public.

I have undertaken a considerable amount of research on the Battalion for this period. Pls refer to my site: larbalapplication.appspot.com
