richard ernest nelson
born bradford 1877
to
laura greaves
born scotton 1883, thier first child richard was born in halifax in 1903 laura was a servant in the nelson household i have all the census as they were my husband,s grandparents but hit a brick wall with marraige certificate they were living in ferndale mid glamorgan in 1911 this is where they both died

Hi
It looks like they married Dec Qtr 1909 Bradford Reg District Vol 9b Page 185. Richard is on FreeBMD as page 785 but that is outside the range for Bradford.

i think i looked at that one i,m on ancestry and no luck there we even wrote to halifax registry office no luck there either , carol, they are on ancestry but not married to each other.
-
I would agree with Andy :-\
The other couple on the entry for Laura Greaves page 185 are married to each other. Both Laura and Richard Ernest do not have matches. Perhaps Bradford registry office could help as that is where the marriage was.

Do you have a birth certificate for one of the children that confirms the parents names (preferably richard bn 1903)
-
i have found richard,s birth on ancestry and we have my husband,s fathers birth certificate that says richard father laura mother
-
sorry treetotal only now seeing your post thats my tree on ancestry i put that down when i first started years ago but did,nt realize how hard it would be to find a marraige cert
-
No problem...I guessed it could be yours and that the marriage was an estimate based on the birth of their 1st child...will keep looking....there is always the possibility that they didn't marry or that the document was damaged :-\

thats what we think they were not married because why come to the rhondda valley from yorkshire because he was,nt a miner he was a pawnbroker it says manager at pawnbroker on the 1911 census they are living in ferndale mid glamorgan then wonder if they were both married to someone else. carol
-
Do you have a copy of the 1909 marriage that Andycand found. It may be that they just did not marry until later. :-\
-
no i havent and i dont know how to find it i will have a try now , carol
-
his father richard moody nelson is down for bradford 1910 he remarried after his wife francis died but cant find marriage for richard and laura
-
It looks like Laura's has the right reference number
Marriage December qtr 1909
GREAVES Laura
Bradford reg district 9b 185
Marriage December qtr 1909
NELSON Richard Ernest
Bradford 9b 785
This entry for Richard shows on freebmd as italics as the reference number is wrong for the area. Looking at the image it is not good though it is a typed image. It could just be a transcription error when the GRO index was typed.
If it was me I would be ordering the record for Laura but stating the spouse was Richard Ernest Nelson.
