Title: Help with a look up
Post by: demented on Thursday 03 July 14 12:51 BST (UK)
Have been trying to find information about the birth of my 4g grandmother Jean Home.
She was the illegitimate daughter of Francis Home a planter in Grenada and was born c1772.
She married James Carmichael in Edinburgh in1798 and died in Edinburgh in 1817

On Ancestry.com I put in the above information in "births, baptisms, christenings" And she appeared under heading Sots in West Indies 1707-1857.

Unfortunately I couldn't view the image. I  don't have a subscription as my research is mainly Scotland. I've tried on the library version but couldn't get anything showing there.

Would be very grateful if someone could do a look up for me. (it came up no 12 in list)
Thanks
Margaret

Thanks Shaunj
I already had the marriage information in that book but having the link is very helpful.   I know there is another volume of the same name by David Dobson and was hoping that the image on ancestry would be from that one and give some information on her birth.
Thanks very much for taking the time to help me.It is much appreciated.
Regards Margaret

Thanks again Shaunj
Have had a look. Nothing about Jean's birth but  discovered her father Francis was in Dominica in 1776. Another interesting piece of family history.
Your help is much appreciated.

On looking at my first post I noticed a slight error. I actually entered the information in births marriages and deaths. The search came up with the book title, below which it said births baptisms and christenings. This gave me hope that I could find her birth at last.
This result only came up on ancestry.com
I would be very grateful if someone could do a look up for me.
Thanks Margaret

Thanks Shaunj

Checked it out again and it came up. I can only find it on ancestry.com though.
I entered Jean Home, her approx. DOB, her spouse and marriage date and date of death.
There were quite a few hits. Their marriage, the births of their children etc.  then suddenly just what I've been looking for. Couldn't believe it at first!

Thanks so much for helping. I'm very grateful
