Title: Death certificate help!
Post by: StevieP on Tuesday 24 June 14 23:28 BST (UK)
This is the death certificate of Elizabeth Dunn who died at the age of 69. I've been looking at the cause of death for ages now and I'm still clueless as to what it could be. The closest I can get to identifying it is "Hemophylia" which I doubt is the case, does anyone else have any other thoughts on it?

I think it looks like Hemiplegia - but one doesn't usually die of that.

Can see why one would see Heart failure though.

red  - well that would reinforce Heart failure then wouldn't it.

It's very unusual indeed, I couldn't make heads or tails of it. She was working as a housekeeper when she died and the cause of death doesn't look like anything common place at the time e.g influenza, consumption etc

It does look like Hemiplegia now that you both have said it. I can assume then that she must have died from a stroke? Hemiplegia must have been a secondary result? Most hemiplegia I have seen from looking online seems to relate mostly to newborns, was this a common cause of death? It is the first I have seen of it in my research.

I would certainly say that it is Hemiplegia the lady obviously had a stroke
given her age. Although, a lot of stroke victims survive I have seen many that have succumbed in the following weeks. She may have had an underlying medical condition which contributed
to her death.
