Title: Christian Toms
Post by: sheila47 on Tuesday 24 June 14 09:10 BST (UK)
I'm trying to find out any info about an ancestor of mine Christian Toms. She was born in 1720 ( believe in Dorset) and married Simon Stockley of Corfe Castle. They had 2 children Rebecca and Simon, but that's about all the info I can find about her. Can anyone help plz?

Did they marry in Corfe Castle as I can't find anything obvious on Dorset OPC there. Where were the 2 children baptised?

There is however an interesting baptism which may or may not be your Simon

28 Jan 1753 Corfe Castle, George son of Jane Webber - reputed father Simon Stockley

Thanks for your reply Shirl. The Simon Stockley you mentioned isn't mine I'm afraid. I have no idea where Christian was born or where the children were baptised. It's a real puzzle. I will keep on digging and hope I find something  :)

Sheila,
Did you happen to find any further information on this. I too am looking for a Simon Stockley, who was born about 1760 ( which I am thinking may well be a son of Christine Toms)

Thanks
Stuart

Hi Stuart

According to my Ancestry records, I have
Simon Stockley (born 1726-died 1785) married to Christian Toms (born 1720-).
Simon Stockley (born 1776-died 1847) was married to Mary Orchard (born 1776-).

Simon and Mary had 6 children.

If I can help with any more info I will be glad to.  :)

Sheila
