Lookup help please.
My great great great grandfather Francis Carter Ball was born about 1811/12 in Darlaston. In 1840 he married Hannah Whorton at Christ Church, Coseley. Both were widowed. Can anybody help with his first marriage please, or his father who was also called Francis Carter Ball and who had died before 1840, his occupation was nailer.
Also Hannah’s first Marriage to ? Foster or Forster. Anybody know anything about him? (there may be a daughter Alice born about 1837). Hannah Whorton was baptised at Darlaston St Lawrence 1808 and her parents’ names were William and Mary Whorton, William was a miner. There looks to be another daughter, Marianne, also baptised at St Lawrence, in 1819.
Many thanks

From freebmd. June 1840 quarter Dudley. Francis carter ball and a possible parter Hannah Forster.
That also comes up on ancestry site. I put the first 2 names as first names. To limit churches if church wedding need to find Dudley area area of abode. Nothing on freereg or westmidlandsbmd. You could try staffordshirebmd and familysearch.org for marriages and also he could have used any combination of his names.

Cant seem to find anything on Francis!
I did notice Alice Forster and John Ball age 12 on the 1841 Census with Francis/Hannah though.
WILLIAM/MARY Wharton Baptised St Lawrence, Darlaston;
HANNAH Worton, 17 Feb 1808
MARIANNE Wharton, 11 July 1819, abode Butcroft, Father a Miner
PAMELA Worton, 25 Dec 1827, same details
THOMAS Wharton, 21 March 1830, same details ( buried 18 Jan 1832 age 2, abode Butcroft)
Large gap between Hannah and Marriane, maybe others born elsewhere.

Many thanks for your help here Trish. Familysearch seems to have thrown up some family members that I was not aware of so I'll be looking at those. It is interesting to see that the 1844 marriage between William Ball and Lydia Clark has William's father as a nailer. Although I think this is an entirely different family I am wondering if 'nailer' is an occupation that is commonly found in one particular area of Staffordshire as that may help me find Francis Carter Ball senior's home. It would be nice to nail that one down! Can you help with that one please?

Certainly a well known occupation in lots of midlands areas.
