Thank you Sue :D :D
Maybe you can help further?
Have you marriage records; for Thomas and Annie; Emily's parents?

Hi,
The only likely marriage I can find is -
2nd April 1827 at Gloucester St Michael by banns
Thomas Symonds (wid) to
Ann Colorick (wid)
the problem is I can't find a suitable earlier marriage for either of them so that probably doesn't help much.

1841 census Newent, Alms House Green
Thomas Symonds 54 Labourer
Anne Do 48
Eliza Do 12
Emmily Do 10 (spelt this way on image)
Sophia Do 6
William Coldrick 25 Waterman
The existence of William supports the marriage found by Sue. Thomas and Anne are on the 1851 census, still in Newent, with an approx birth for Thomas of 1783, pob Lassington (?)
From www.forest-of-dean.org.uk (a free site with transcriptions of parish registers and much else)
Baptism at Lassington, 12 Nov 1786 - Thomas Symmonds, parents John and Diana
Ann's previous marriage is also on the site, it would need more time than I have to be certain of Thomas.
Good hunting ;)

Hi,
Have a look at the Forest of Dean site
http://www.forest-of-dean.org.uk/index.php/resources/parish-records
You will need to register but it is free
Seems Ann's name might have been COLDRICK
There is a marriage for John Coldrick and Ann Carpenter
23rd June 1812 (Ann would have been about 19) at Upleaden

Hello Muffin41
Emily Symonds (aka Emma) born Newent 1831 daughter of Thomas Symonds and Anne Coldrick, married James Baylis 27th August 1850 at St. James Gloucester. James Baylis' occupation was a Waterman as was his wife Emily's half brothers, William and James Coldrick.
According to the 1871 census your Emily Symmonds was born 1834 in Donnington, Gloucestershire, ref piece 2492, folio 83, page 26.
Obtaining the marriage certificate of Thomas Pow and Emily should give her father's name.
Hope this helps in your quest for Emily and her family.
Regards

Thank you for correcting my query about Emily Symmonds´s birth place.
I will have to buy a marriage certificate to confirm her parents.
