Hi everyone. I've been at a brick wall for a long time with my g-g-grandmother Catherine Carey. She was born in England in about 1875, and she came to the US around 1886-1889 from what I've gathered. I have her marriage record in the US (to Frederick Bradbury of Manchester, England) but I can't find a death record, and I can't determine if any of the England birth records or censuses on Ancestry are hers because I have no idea what her parents' names were or where specifically she was from in England.
Any advice would be much appreciated. :)

As she was only a child when emigrating, I would think your first move would be to see if you can find her on any passenger lists or immigration records, or 1891 US census to see who she is with.
Does her marriage cert give fathers name?, sorry I am not familiar with US certs.

Well, the US certificates vary a lot between states and the time the event occurred, etc. Unfortunately hers does not give any birth or parental info besides the year. And the 1890 US census was mostly destroyed, unfortunately, so I can't check there. She was married by the 1900 census, which is the earliest record I have of her besides the marriage cert (1899).
I will have a look at immigration records though. I can't remember if I've searched them or not, but it can't hurt. Thank you for your suggestions.

Where was she on the 1900 census ?

That info is all correct, sgf28. I have four censuses (1900, 1905 New York, 1910, and 1920) and the marriage record, and that's it. I haven't found anything in the immigration records. She and Frederick seem to have moved around quite a bit.

Yes, that's correct. I have been fortunate that I've been able to make some headway with Frederick's parents and whatnot, since I knew from a family member that he was born in Manchester. He actually arrived in the US somewhere between 1866 and 1871, I believe, since his sister was born in Illinois around 1871. Catherine's parents and specific birth location have proven to be pretty elusive, however.

Wow, thank you for finding that. I think that's probably her. It makes sense she'd have been there because her daughter Irene was living in the Bronx with her husband and daughter (my grandmother) as well.

Maybe getting her death cert will show who her parents were ? I noticed on Edwards death details in 1941 it gives the parents names

I hope so. Some do and some don't, so I'm going to try to find out if it will show any new info before I spend the money.

Just an update, I MAY have found her birth record. The name and date of April 1875 matches, however I can't be sure since I don't have parents' names or a specific location. The location on the record is Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. There are also Christening records for her, and parents listed are Thomas Carey and Anna Evans.
Really hoping this is a match but I won't know for sure until I can get at least one parents' name on her death record, though I'm also trying to find an obituary now that I have a death date, but no luck so far.

Just wanted to update that I finally acquired a copy of her death cert. It lists her parents as John Carey and Hannah Smith, both born in Ireland, with her being born in England.
