Hi,
I am researching my McLean family and am hoping someone can help me. I am looking for information on John McLean born 1811 in Scotland. In March 1835 he married Julia McPherson who was also born in 1811. They had 11 children. Their son John moved to New Zealand with two of his brothers. I believe John snr's father could be Malcolm.
If anyone could help me with any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Where in Scotland are they, please?
Is your man the John McLean born on 4th May 1811 to Malcolm and Elizabeth in Strachalan, Argyll?
Was his oldest son named Malcolm?

I believe the family come from Argyll Scotland. Children of John and Julia from oldest are: Mary, John, Duncan Hugh, Catherine, Hugh, Ewan, Agnes and there are more. I know only that John snr was born possibly 1811, Married March 1835 and his father is Malcolm but have no more than that.
Thanks for your help.

I have since discovered that John was lost at sea with two of his sons one of them named Robert. I believe Johns father is Malcolm and his mother is Elizabeth Buchanan. He possibly had two brothers Charles born 1815 and Alexander born 1819. The family id from Argyll, Scotland but I don't know any more than that. I would love to find out where John was lost at sea and if he had other siblings and what happened to them.
