Do you know where he was born or anything else about him, please?
Could he have been born in Suffolk?

Welcome to Rootschat.

Even if there is no-one who has actually researched him, if you give us a bit more information I'm sure that people on here will be able to help you find out about him. Just looking quickly online there are lots of different transcriptions of the name ie Hothenale and Mathersole so you need to be aware of this when looking for him.

Thank you already:) I think he is from Suffolk, DOB is 1832, That's at least where he had his child Alfred Mothersole my G Grandfather in 1881.

Welcome from me too.

I agree with KGarrad that the Berkhamsted family looks interesting, but no obvious Suffolk connection:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X3P1-CCV

shows they were all born locally ???

Ah - on the other hand if you go back to 1871, both William and Caroline do claim a Suffolk birthplace:

I had alighted on this as a possibility for William's baptism:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NKSV-GBY

as William Harvey rather than William Edwin.

BUT William Harvey died in infancy: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JCD4-3Z3

Can't see them in 1861?

So, 1841 census: Class: HO107; Piece: 1036; Book: 13; Folio: 8; Page: 9
Street, Great Livermere, Suffolk

Mothersole, William  M  40  Bricklkayer
Mothersole, Susan  F  45
Mothersole, Henry  M  20
Mothersole, Lucretia  F  12
Mothersole, William  M  9
Mothersole, Denis  M  7    All born in county

and remembering that adult ages on the 1841 census were usually rounded down to a multiple of 5 years!

Perhaps this then is William's baptism in 1832, mistranscribed as Wothersole:

Perhaps they were a little forgetful in 1881 when they all were said to have been born in Berkhamsted!

Here's a baptism for the son William in Bury St Edmunds in 1859:

More likely an enumerator error?
Birthplace has been dittoed from the first entry (different family).

That's great as it confirms it was the right marriage and ties it all together.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for all the input.  I am learning so much here.  I figured William Jnr may have died since he wasn't in the next family listing - I didn't even think that he wouldn't be under the Family listing due to moving out of home!!
I have found out now from a source close to home that my Gx4 Grand parents are Philip Mothersole born in Suffolk Oct 1762, passed away 1825 and his wife is Jane Pye also born in Suffolk Feb 1758, passed away 1813.
Do u you know how I could find out details like their parents and what other children they had? Or would there be no records that far back?
Thank you once again:)

There are lots and lots of Mothersoles on www.familysearch.org and also a few on www.freereg.org.uk (both free to search).

On familysearch two children come up straight away:

Maria b. 6th April 1796
William b. 11th April 1800

Also check variants as the marriage of Philip and Jane in 1795 is transcribed as Nothersole and Cye  :-\
