Title: May Elizabeth Kendall
Post by: Ausjules on Saturday 07 June 14 07:02 BST (UK)
Am just wondering if anyone can find anything on May Elizabeth Kendall? Have been searching for a friend of mine who was adopted and so far have found out that she was born in 1913-14 in Carlton, Victoria, Australia. Any help would be much appreciated, cheers Julie :)

Do you have an Ancestry subscription?  I think you can see May Elizabeth Kendall on the 1943 and 1949 electoral roll.  She is with several other female Kendalls, but as they feasibly could be still alive, I wont name them.  There is an annotation on the 1949 electoral roll against May's name, but I can't work out what it is!

Sorry for the late reply, i must have accidently turned off my email activation. My ancestryship ran out 3 weeks ago but i will be renewing it soon :) i have found a few kendalls born in carlton and some in richmond. Have not found may's birth or death. My friend was adopted in 1947 and his biggest question is where his family came from, scotland england etc. Thanks so much for the info, i will check the census records as soon as i can :) cheers, julie.

Hi Julie

May Elizabeth "KENDALL" may also have been adopted.

There was this birth that appears to be to an unmarried mother named May MARTIN.
May Elizth MARTIN born 1915 CARLTON

Thankyou essie for that information :) i recieved brians birth certificate the other day from a very helpful lady that worked at the surrey hills boys home in melbourne. It says mothers maiden name KENDALL, 33 years old, born carlton. And that my friend was born at the womens hospital in carlton. Not alot to go on :-/ And also no info on the father.

Information on birth certificates ie the mother's name and age are not always accurate.  It wasn't uncommon for hospital porters or messengers to register the births at the Women's Hospital.  I have found incidents of illegitimate children being registered in the birth mother's mother's name.

Who registered the birth of the person who was adopted in 1947?

PM with possible birth but as it is within the 100 years not permitted to post on the board.

SA certificates do not list names of issue of a marriage, either living and deceased until 1992.

Have pm'd some research on the possible father.  He is deceased but just in case I have the wrong one felt it better to keep it private.
