Emelia was my 3 x gt.grandmother. She was born around 1778 in Scotland to James and Hannah Stephens. Emelia's father was a Shoemaker in Edinburgh before moving to Birmingham, where he is found in 1800 still working as a Boot and Shoemaker. I can't find any record of her birth, or that of her sister Eleanor (b. about 1781 also in Scotland). I've tried Scotlands People with no luck. Is there anyone who might be able to give me any help.
Emelia married David Mackain (also a shoemaker) in Birmingham in 1812.
Eleanor married John Sellman in Birmingham in 1803.

Have you considered the possibility that they may have moved south to Birmingham a little earlier and the girls were born (or baptised) in Warwickshire.

Thank you both for your replies.
Bevj - I do already have the information of James and Hannah's marriage and also the baptism of Davinell. Also I think that the name Davinell may be a mistranscription of Daniel.
Craclyn - Both Emelia and Eleanor were born in Scotland as shown on Census records. However, your suggestion that they might have moved and been baptised in Birmingham is a possibility I guess. Both Emelia and Elanor's children were baptised at Cannon Street Baptist Chapel in Birmingham.
Maybe another trip to Birmingham to check further is needed?
