Title: Help wanted please Parish records

Hi not sure if im even posting in the right county for this.

Im looking for the parents of Edwin Bennett and his Wife Catherine Smith.  I am unsure which is an easier way of finding them Marriage or Baptism records, maybe both. but I guess those of you in the know will have a better idea.

Im not sure if any of this info will be of help but here goes: ???

They were married in 1942 Q4 vol 8d pg 583, Manchester, Lancs.

Edwin Was Born on the 27th of November 1897 according to his death record.  I have not found his actual birth record.

I havent found any Birth record for Catherine as you can imagine with out her parents names she could be one of millions.

You may be asking why i havent just ordered the certificates, but im actually trying to find out all of this info for a friend who is doing it for her grandmother as a surprise but she doesnt want to ask her loads of questions or she will work it may give away the surprise.

Hi julieriddough,

Unfortunately it looks like your only recourse is to buy the certificate as this marriage appears to have taken place at Manchester Register Office & therefore you will not find it available on line anywhere.

thanks for that, im wondering if it was perhaps his second marriage as he was 45 when they married.  Thanks for your help

just a thought but would it be possible to as least find his fathers name from his birth or baptism record seeing as i have the exact date?

There's an Edwin Bennett   born 1896  in Chorlton   RD ,    the  birth  date on  a death  cert  is only  as good  as what the informant  gives ,   so    may be  out a  bit .

 There's  a  few  to choose  from  on the census   in Manchester area ,    Best  bet is to get the marriage cert  ,

If you could find the baptism yes. What is the exact date? Do you also know where Edwin was born?

Yep, I saw that birth in Chorlton reg dist as well Jan57.  ;D
