Title: Mitton, Henry look up at Wirral Archives PLEASE?!
Post by: Miranda on Thursday 29 May 14 13:22 BST (UK)
Hi all
Is anyone going to the Wirral Archives soon?
I am trying to trace an ancestor who ended up in the Work house.  The District Guardians of the Birkenhead Union in Tranmere. 1891 census.
Henry Mitton was born in Shrewsbury in 1841. And although they seem to have his age wrong, it seems likely that on the 1891 census it is him in there, listed as a printer and an imbecile! Poor bloke.  I believe he died there also in 1895.
Questions - Why was he there? He lived in Shropshire (Shrewsbury) was married and had kids.  How did he get there? What did he die of?  So many questions I can't think of any others for the moment.  If I can find out a little more that would be so helpful.  I have him until 1881 census.  Between 1881 and 1891 I have no idea what happened to him.
Thank you to who ever may find him again.  He was my great great grandfather.
