i've trace the MAY family to wimbledon surrey they add had 7 children there born 1739-1757 their parents are john and elizabeth
only marriage i can find for a john and elizabeth is a john may and elizabeth grainger who married 1st feb 1738 st anne soho westminster not sure if they are the right ones though
i know from the 1664 hearth tax that there were mays in the brixton hundred area of surrey
but can't find any parish records online for that area
any help would be great

Brixton and Wimbledon for the time you are looking at are quite a way apart.
-
I presume that the family you are looking at are
John bapt 14 January 1738
Elizabeth 1740
Mary Anne 1744
Richard 1746
Henrietta 1749
William 1755
Mary 1757
The marriage at Soho that you are looking at was by Licence & they were both apparently of St Giles in the Fields Parish

yes thats the children of william and elizabeth
just finding william and elizabeth is a problem
-
Did the family stay in Wimbledon. Have you got the burials for William & Elizabeth.

A John May, Blacksmith of Stony Stratford married an Elizabeth Brailey of Ewell 4 Nov 1734 according to Clandestine (Fleet) Marriages.
Ewell is about 7 miles from Wimbledon according to the AA!

sorry it should have been john and elizabeth
no could not find their deaths and i don't think they stayed in wimbledon
i have the book on wimbledon parish registers and can't see them there
i know some of their later 1860s relatives went back to wimbledon for a short time and had some of their children baptized there then they returned to nottingham
