Hi listers
Trying to track down some family relatives or someone else researching Nobles in Broadsea.
My Nobles are as follows:
Wilson Noble 1881-1956 & Rachael Grant Cardno 1879-1958
Alexander Noble 1858-1924 & Elizabeth Noble 1860-1918
Alexander Noble "Cockie" 1833-1909 & Elizabeth Crawford 1842-1885
Walter Noble 1794-1868 & Margaret Noble 1802 -1841/51
Gilbert Noble 1767- ?? & Ann Crawford 1773 - ??
I was born in Fraserburgh, but emigrated with my parents, when the "Wilson Noble boatbuilding busines" (owned by my grandfather closed down in 1959)
Would love to hear from anyone with connections or knowledge of the above.

My great grandmother was a Noble of Broadsea descent.
She was Margaret Bell Noble (1892-1934).
Her parents:
Dougal Noble (1855-1896) & Jessie S. Noble (c.1855-1900).
Dougal's parents:
Dougal Noble (c.1827-1879) & Ann Noble (1832-1903).
Dougal's parents:
George Noble (b.1788) & Barbara Whyte (c.1793-1866)
George was the son of Andrew Noble (d.1790) and Helen Lascelles (c.1760-1840). Helen is 'Granny Lascelles' in the 'Christian Watt Papers'.
How reliable are the papers as a source? They go onto claim that 'Granny Lascelles' mother was the illegitimate daughter of John Gordon and Jean Crawford. John Gordon was the son of John Gordon of Kinellar and Henrietta Fraser, daughter of 12th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy.
I have done a small amount of research. The papers claim that Helen Lascelles' mother (Jane Gordon/Crawford) was left 20 pounds in the will of her father. Having viewed John Gordon's will, there is mention of his natural daughter being left 20 pounds. So some of the claims can be proven.
I believe John Gordon is buried in his family vault, a converted chapel which stands in the grounds of the old Kirktoun.
So what do we think?

Hello
My name is Alexandra Noble
I live in Australia
My Parents are John Noble and Josie Noble divorced. They migrated to Australia before I was born. 1964 I think.
My Grandparents are Gertrude Evelyn Noble still living at 94 in Australia, and Andrew Noble who was killed in the war. What year I don't know.
We are from Fraserburgh, a broch family.
My Great Grandparents name was Muggsie Dunn - I know the spelling is wrong.
If anyone has any information about my family please I would be grateful if you would let me know.
Thank you
-
Hello,
According to the CWGC he died in Fraserburgh on 5th November 1940. Civilian dead - most probably due to bombing. Son of Mr and Mrs David Noble of 59 College Bounds.

Hello Maureen
I'm very new to this chat room business and also quite new to researching my 'Bredsie' roots. My mum was a Broadsea Noble and I myself was born in the Broch. Through Scotland's People I'm trawling through the records in search of my ancestors. Although I have lived in Bucks for a long time now, I have recently renewed ties with my cousin who still lives in that part of the country and I'm going up to visit her around May time. I can maybe add some dates to my research by checking out the not unsubstantial Noble plot in the cemetery.
Like I say, I am very new to this and hope you don't mind me having contacted you.
Regards
Isabella

Hello Isabella,
Do you have any basic information at the moment which may help to show where you link in?

So far I have traced back to my great, great, great grandfather George Noble who married a Mary Noble (nee Noble) but I am unable to trace a marriage certificate. Mary Noble I think was born around 1813 and if I have researched this properly, she died on 29 January 1890. Through the OPR I have found their son, Andrew Noble, who was born or baptised on 11 April.

Hi i also am related to the Broadsea Nobles my Great grandmother Eliza Ann was born in 10 Broadsea about 1852 to William Noble and Jessie Masson. William was born on 8/7/1828 the witnesses were Andrew and Anne Noble both in Broadsea i have done a bit of research on this family up to the present day. It would be interesting to know anyone researching this line.

I have Andrew Noble, born about 1854 in Fraserburgh, son of John Noble and Jane Gilbert. He married Susan Nicoll in Portsoy in 1891. They had a daughter Susan Anna, born 1894, and a son Charles Leslie, born 1896, both in Fraserburgh. In 1901 they were in Plaistow near London. I have no idea what became of them after that.
Susan was Andrew's second wife. His first wife was Jessie Sim (1857-1889), daughter of John Sim and Christian Tait. They were married on 25 September 1873 and had at least six children: John, Andrew, Christian, George Adie (1882), David Sim (1884) and Jessie Victoria (1887).

If anybody is interested in Stray Nobles, or Noble Strays - i.e. Nobles who married and moved away from Fraserburgh/Broadsea, I can offer you Isabella Noble who married William Corstorphine from my home town of Cellardyke in Fife. They were married in 1889 at 44 Mid Street, Fraserburgh, but Isabella's home address was 61 Broadsea, and her parents were Alexander Noble, fisherman, and Elizabeth Crawford.
In the 1891 census of Cellardyke, Isabella's younger sister Mary Noble, aged 15, is living with her and William as a domestic servant.
Isabella Corstorphine/Noble died in 1936 in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, aged 69.

Re: reference in your post to "Wilson Noble"
I find in the 1841 census the following return and the return of another Wilson Noble and wonder if there might be a connection.......
1841 Census
Piece: SCT1841/196 Place: Fraserburgh -Aberdeenshire Enumeration District: 4
Civil Parish: Fraserburgh Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: -
Folio: 4 Page: 6
Address: Broadsea
Surname First name(s) Sex Age Occupation Where Born
NOBLE Margaret F 38 Fisherman's Wife Aberdeenshire
NOBLE Andrew M 15 Fisherman Aberdeenshire
NOBLE Alexander M 13 Fisherman Aberdeenshire
NOBLE Isabella F 10 Aberdeenshire
NOBLE Wilson M 8 Aberdeenshire
NOBLE Elisabeth F 6 Aberdeenshire
NOBLE Joseph M 4 Aberdeenshire
NOBLE William M 2 Aberdeenshire
My main interest is in Andrew, aged 15 and to determine if his mother Margaret is Margaret Buchan, wife of John Noble. John and Margaret married in Fraserburgh 6 Oct 1822.
Margaret is described as a "Fishermans Wife" which suggests her husband is alive and away from home on the night of the census (otherwise she would be described as a "Widow" )

Hi please bare with me just came across this site and not quite sure how to go about things
I am Carol Ann Forman (nee Noble ) was born in Broadsea Fraserburgh to Helen (Nell) and David Noble my fathers parents were Betsy and Isaac Noble ( fisherman) his folk stayed as I recall in Rosehearty along the coast.
Betsy was born in Broadsea her father was nicknamed ( Porter Bob ) As a child I went to visit Maggsy Dinn with my Granny in her home beside her shop. I also fondly remember "Skippers Anrda " who was I think a cousin of my fathers, Andrew Noble and his sister Mima who stayed across from Baccoci,s icecream shop in College Bounds He was a draughtsman in the Toolworks I was told he designed a tool for surgeons for brain operations
Andra had lived in King Edward St Fraserburgh with his wife and family am sure one of his daughters went to America and married a lawyer and the other to Africa
As my granny and Dyde were both Nobles I,m nae quite sure who's side Maggsy was on but am sure Skippers Andra was my fathers side

Trying to find the year that Alexander Noble, boatbuilder of Fraserburgh, passed his business over to Wilson Noble who continued working until 1959....Maureen....your grandfather was Wilson...??
-
I am a descendant of Andrew Noble and Margaret Masson. They had Isaac Noble (1835) and he had Margaret Noble who married Albert Roney. They had Phyllis Roney, who had my grandmother, Phillis Benson, in 1915. Isaac came to Australia and was a fisherman in Robe and he and Margaret are buried there .
