i have tried looking for any links with any flatleys in the hope i can make a connection,my great grandfather is JOHN FLATLEY 1836 from mayo,I've yet to find his origin possibly Knock,or Ballyhaunis
-
This is info from my family bible:
Michael Flatley, (my GG grandfather) (b. 1934- Ballyhaunis (Knock?) married Catherine Murphy (b, 1837-Claremorris (Knock?) They are the parents of my great-grandfather William Flatley (b.1864(?)- Caremorris). William Flatley married Deilia Grogan (b~1873(?) Ballyhaunis (Pattenspark?). Delia's parents were Thomas Grogan (b1835- Ballyhaunis) and Nora (Honora) Tarpey (b. 1837-Mayo).
However, after this point, I am stuck for any further ancestry info for any of these relatives.
My daughter is traveling to Ballyhaunis/Claremorris/Knock area in May, 2015, and I am traveling there in September 2015. If anyone has any family info that might be helpful, or if there are any known relatives left in this area, I would be pleased to hear any information. Thanks!

Hello,
I'm just checking your dates.
You have John Flatley b 1836 and Kate Walford b 1869.
Kate's mother, Bridget is born abt 1838 (in 1881) so Kate is perhaps your John's niece rather than granddaughter?

Hi hallmark,
I was thinking that this is the Walford family in 1881

Certainly a possible!

If this is a "retry" there's probably another thread somewhere for them!!
-
It seems that only Kate was born in Mayo.
Free BMD marriage 1865 Kidderminster

It was confusing information there. However, you are looking for the origins of John born 1836. Is that correct?
What was his father's name?
When did John arrive in England?

Ridiculous!!
are we supposed to wade through them??

There seems to be some confusion in those posts with various names etc.
It might be good to state what info you have which is certain rather than speculative.
For example, is your John the man who married Margaret Boyle as Patrick Flatley?
If so, does his father's name match that of Bridget's on her marriage to Edward Walford?
You also mention your great aunt Mary Flatley who married Austin Jordan. What is her father's name on the marriage certificate?
She has Ballyhaunis as her birthplace.
-
The Jordans have a brother, John Flatley b 1836 - possibly unmarried with them in 1881.
Also in 1881, your ancestor is named as Patrick born 1831. :-\
Is Mary Jordan definitely your aunt?

thankyou
That's a bit abrupt. :-\ ???
I hope you find something. I have spent quite some time searching, trying to match the ones up in Worcester / Wolverhampton.
I noticed on one of your previous posts that you said you had the marriage certificate for Patrick Flatley and Margaret Boyle. This should give you his father's name and then the Walford and Jordan marriages would confirm that too.
This may help you get further back through Tithe Applotment records.
I think you also say you have baptism records - sometimes Godparents can also help a search.
Do you have a baptism record for Kate Walford?
Best wishes and good luck

My post was to make contact with Flatleys, from mayo, not asking for the research you came up with.
yes i do have both marriage certs,i do not have the irish bap of kate walford yet.she is nearest link to the area in mayo i have for my ancestors.
I have searched 25 years for the origin of my great grandfather John Flatley and my research was before all this internet, meaning going to record offices far and wide.
-
Oh I see. I thought I was helping you ::)
I misunderstood your post and was, I thought, giving you further ways of finding your man as you haven't seemed to have much luck.
I notice that several Flatley researchers have contacted you previously - not sure how many of these you have acknowledged.
We do understand your frustrations - many of us are in a similar position - that's why we try to be helpful.

Sorry to have hindered you!! Won't happen again!
