Title: Hetherington/Pickering
Post by: tauporainbow on Monday 26 May 14 05:46 BST (UK)
Small geography question.  Burton in Lonsdale was a small village in 1750's?  Where was Thornton in Lonsdale?  Was it a village/town or just an area? Was Burton in Lonsdale part of Thornton in Lonsdale or vice versa? Anyone know of Hetherington or Pickering families in the area at that time?  Particularly looking for Mary Pickering who married Richard Hetherington.

Hi tauporainbow

Genuki is an excellent source of information:

The Parish town of Thornton-in-Lonsdale ( data as  of mainly early 1820's)
http://www.genuki.com/big/eng/YKS/WRY/Thorntoninlonsdale/

and within the Parish (as of 1822)  is Burton-in-Lonsdale:
