Title: Oxford record office
Post by: Vcela on Saturday 25 June 05 21:42 BST (UK)
Can anyone help please I am in Oxford for Tuesday only and would like to find my great great grandfathers birth in Oxford parish records in 1832. Will I be able to look that up on Tuesday or will I need a readers ticket for that which I understand takes a while. Vcela

Hi

You should check out the Record Office's web site at
http://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/oro
all the info you need is there - they opperate the CARN Readers ticket system and you can apply on the day but you will need 2 passport type photos and proof of home address.  Do you know which parish you ancestor was born in?  cos that will speed things up - most parish registers for that period will be on microfiche - you might need to book a machine by giving them a ring on Monday.

Good Luck

Debbie
